POSITION OVERVIEW: The Interpretive Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the St. Mary’s River Association Education and Interpretive Centre. This role is pivotal for the successful operations of the IC as well as being the point person representing the SMRA within our immediate and broader communities. It is important that this individual possess the understanding, compassion and commitment to the overarching vision and mission of the Association. This role has the important key responsibilities of developing and managing the summer student program, being a liaison between the Association and various committees, businesses and community events within Sherbrooke along with interacting with our partner associations, agencies and other entities as they become a collaborative affiliate.
This is a dynamic seasonal position for a motivated self-directed individual who thrives on multitasking, community connection, and environmental education.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: (include but are not limited to the following)
- Daily operations and administration of the Interpretive Centre
- Managing all functions of operating the Centre for the open season
- Visitors Gift Shop inventory and sales
- Maintaining membership lists, communication etc.
- Oversight of the summer students
- Recruitment, training, scheduling etc.
- Programs, Exhibits & Public Engagement (Online Platforms & Social Media)
- Maintain existing exhibits and develop new interactive content
- Accountable to upload, manage and report on our online platforms
- Design and deliver public programs, school tours, and events, often with student assistance.
- Event Planning & Community Outreach
- Plan and lead and coordinate Interpretive Centre events
- Represent SMRA at collaborative events and build relationships with local and regional community partners.
POSITION REQUIRMENTS: (Applicable safe workplace training provided)
- Awareness of the St Mary’s River watershed, local conservation issues and the salmon fishery.
- Strong written and verbal and communication skills, experience with various computer programs, i.e. Microsoft office, google workplace, online tools such as Canava, Brevo.
- Experience with website content management and social media platforms.
- Knowledge and understanding of grant programs and applications.
- Applicable occupational health & safety programs as required, I.E. WHMIS, First Aid etc
